5 Best Ways To Boost Your Confidence

“It is confidence in our bodies, minds, and spirits that allow us to keep looking for new adventures”- Oprah Winfrey.

Confidence is what keeps us going. It is the belief or faith in one’s abilities. This confidence is the fuel that keeps us running. Some of us wear confidence with ease. For others, it takes some effort to boost confidence. There are lots of ways in which you can boost your confidence. There is a superhero in each of us. It is time to bring them out!

Self-confident people have certain admirable traits that make them succeed professionally and personally. Here are some of their traits:
(i)They believe in what they do, even if others criticize them. It does not affect them.
(ii)They admit their mistakes and learn from them.
(iii)Have clarity of thought and manage problems well
(iv)They are calm and composed, even when everything is crumbling.
(v)They encourage others and help them grow too.

Here are some ways in which we can boost our confidence:

1)Believe in yourself, and confidence follows:

Don’t compare yourself to others as each person is unique. Instead, we should focus on bringing out the best in us. For example, a friend of yours might be really good at painting, and you might be really good at singing. If you use up all your energy worrying about your painting skills, the world will miss a talented singer. So concentrate on your skills and strengths and work on them. This lovely quote by Zen Shin explains it –“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.”
Give yourself a pep talk once in a while. Instead of saying, “I can’t do it.” Try saying, “I’ll give it a try.”

2)Avoid negative people and situations:

The people around you have a major impact on your vibe and energy. Surround yourself with people who uplift you and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. There will be some who criticize you no matter what. Avoid them. Nothing will satisfy them. If they are a close family member, we may not be able to avoid them. In that case, try explaining to them that their actions and words are bringing down your confidence. It actually works. Sometimes, they may not be aware of the impact of their words. If they do not change, don’t take what they say personally. It is their view of the world.

3)Focus on your achievements or accomplishments

Praising someone boosts their confidence. For example, when a teacher praises a student for their hard work, they are motivated to do more. So why not use this simple psychological hack to boost our confidence. Just like a to-do list, make a list of your achievements. Whenever you complete something, add it to the list. Read it every night before you go to sleep. This small step will ensure that list keeps growing.

4)Prioritise your health and well being:

A healthy mind and body are the foundations need for confidence. If you are anxious or stressed, the efforts you take to build your confidence may not hold for long.
Here are some ways in which you can improve both your health and confidence:
(i)Meditation- Calms our minds and reduces negative thinking.
(ii)Sleep- A study published in the International Journal of Behavioural Medicine in 2013 found that 7 to 8 hours of sleep boosted confidence.
(iii)Exercise- Improves mental and physical health
(iv)Right Diet- Reducing intake of unhealthy foods can make you feel light and healthy.

Click pictures of them and post them on your social media page. Find a group of people with similar interests and collaborate with them. Life is not only about work It is also about doing things we love. Things that make us relax and bring about happiness.

These are small but important steps to unlocking your true potential. Permit yourself to become the best that you can.
